The Time Traveler's Wife

Good snowy day all.  No school today.  The same day I decided I would stay in my jammies and do a "Movies on Demand", cuddle with my favorite zippy strippy quilt, grab my favorite drink and watch .. drum roll please ...  "The Time Traveler's Wife".  I read the book a few months ago and LOVED it.

However, Addie didn't have school today.  Vandy was late going to work.  So okay, I could delay the movie for a bit.  I could wait for Addie to wake up to watch it with me.  Well, then she finally gets up, she TEXTS through the entire movie and then if she wasn't texting, she would talk and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk, get the picture?   Oh, and did I mention pauses?  Mom could you pause this, and then a 20 minute pause during the last 15 minutes of the show.  GRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It isn't already bad enough that I have gone through my mindless movie watching days to repeating places in the movie because of a way the shot was done, to knowing producers, directors ........ watching credits, who does that anyway??????  Well I know who!!!!    Parents of a daughter that graduate from William and Mary with a degree in Film Studies.  I miss those mindless film days.

Anyway ......

I LOVED The Time Traveler's Wife, even with the multiple interruptions.  Rent it today.  And leave the $3.99 on the coffee table for your husband that will remind you that you have an unlimited Blockbuster monthly rental agreement.  But we are in the middle of another snowstorm, and I couldn't wait.  And I couldn't risk driving in the storm, oh I forgot, my car is in the shop getting repaired from ADDIE'S wreck in it on Saturday from the last snowstorm.

Enjoy the snow all.

Fondueing it!

Remember the invitation I posted a few weeks ago ... well here we are!  Everyone loved fondueing.  Of course, as you look around the table, 4 gentlemen remember when fondueing was popular, the ladies, not so much.  teeheeee

We started the evening with a cheese and fresh cubed bread from Dorothy Lane Market.  It was simply delicious.  And then I had three pots on the table, two fryers and one broth.  We had plump gulf shrimp, scrumptious filet mignon, large sea scallops, tons of fresh vegies, cauliflower, asparagus, red peppers, button mushrooms, yellow squash.  The tempura was an easy box and then four dipping sauces ... Garlic Peanut Sauce, Vidalia Onion and Fig sauce, Mango Jalepeno and Soy Garlic ... my homemade soy garlic sauce was the best.  Everyone said!

After dinner we played a spin off of the Newlywed Game.  I had 25 questions that everyone had to answer and then read aloud.  It was hilarious!!!!   I just about peed myself laughing at the "oldest" married couple that stated they didn't need to practice when I gave everyone a heads up that afternoon.  They came in second, and she wasn't happy about it.

Tonya even has the look like, it was us, I knew it all along kind of attitude!   It was cute.  And each of my friends got a piece of Longaberger.  The winner got to trade/take someone elses piece if she wanted, and of course she did!  lol   And since the gentlemen were such good sports, because some of the questions were on a personal level (like who's gas smells the worst), they got cigars!

The guys even weathered the bitter cold to go puff on their cigars.  Okay okay, and the girls couldn't let them have all the fun, so we went out and took a little drag too.  tee heee   Anyway, what a great evening!!!
