It's a Beautiful Day

I'll tell you a little secret -- it's still dark outside and everyone in my house is sleeping. That is everyone but me .... I snuck downstairs to get a little something to drink and then I am heading back to bed to cuddle with my husband. But, that is exactly how a beautiful day starts, surrounded in love. I'll be back later to share happenings or perhaps a how to do something, but right now I am going to be quiet as a church mouse. Have a beautiful morning my dear friends.

Happy Friday!!

It's Friday and I am happy about it! My Aunt Joanne and Uncle Chuck came to see Dad and I got to visit with them as well. I just adore them!!! I also started walking with a girlfriend of mine three days a week and it feels good. Really good. And this evening I am going to snuggle with my husband and watch a movie with him and hopefully Addie will come home early and watch a movie with us. I hope everyone has a happy Friday!

One Year Check Up

Today is dad's one year check up to see how that nasty cancer is doing in his lungs. I am a tad worried, but I never let him know ... I always say when it's your time it's your time, which is really his line, I just like giving it back to him because it is so true. And you know, after losing my mom to the nasty cancer, this time I am more at ease with it. Don't get me wrong, I am not happy about it, but more at ease. I think it might have to do with God soothing my heart, actually I know it is, no thinking about it.

And days like this one last October, Addie going to Homecoming, 12 kids in the backyard posing and excited, the most important pictures to her were not with her friends, it was one with her Papaw and one with her Daddy. God blesses us with such amazing gifts. One more year with Dad got us this great photo opportunity. And to see him welcome the attention and picture was just icing on the cake. God is good and so is having my Dad with us.

Cake Cookies --- Easy Easy

Cake Cookies -- have you ever heard of such a thing? I know you can do it with any cake mix, but all I had was yellow, so here it is -- and they look so springy with the sprinkles!

1 box of cake mix, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes

And they taste delicious!!! I said I was going to be creative today -- this was so fast, I have time to go do some more stuff --- since it's a rainy day kind of day! Enjoy the cookies!!!

Mean it --

I am going to be creative today -- it's raining. See you in a bit!

Ten and My Sister

Ten -- 10 fingers, 10 toes, 10 minutes, 10 dollars .. so many things the number 10 can do -- and it can begin the countdown to FLORIDA -- 10 days!!!!! I am so excited about this trip --- one great thing is my sister will be coming up to take care of Dad, so I won't worry about him .. although I will miss seeing my sister -- we always have movie marathon's and nice chats -- I like her. This is Shel -- holding Niko in our backyard before the pool. She is great with babies -- another advantage of hers!
And you may find that a bit weird, that I say that, but there was a time I didn't - like her that is. We are only 11 months apart and as children in a competitive family, we topped the charts. I think as a rule you learn to not like your competition and man, she was good at EVERYTHING athletic, so I didn't like her. And as I have said in the past, she can make Mom's potato salad and I can't. She has a memory like a steel trap, when she decides to use it against me. And hotbox in the street with my Dad running between us and then switching off .... she got all her speed from "Speedy Hrovatic" himself and although I could throw just as accurately as her, I could never, ever our run her or my Dad. I remember the anger, but mostly I remember the laughter. And even in our maturing years, we are still competitive, we have just gone from the real world of fields and streets and backyards to Wii and Yahtzee. Less dangerous, unless you are my sister -- she pulled a butt muscle last time we played! teeheeeee Advantage me -- it's my game!

Ah, but back to 10 --- 10 days and we are Florida bound ---

What is the rustling?

Shhhhh says the little bird trying to ignore me. I was laying out reading last summer when something was continually rustling around over by the giant elephant plant on the other side of the pool. It was quite annoying actually, because I have to read in silence! So, finally, I got up and saw this little bird trying to find a place to rest. I have no idea where he came from, but I knew I had to go grab my camera and snap a few shots of him.

He would open his eyes and look at me laying in the grass with my camera and then close his eyes tight as if to wish me away. I waited him out, until he opened his eyes long enough for me to snap a picture. He wasn't fooling me!
And finally, he opens and peeks at me, still trying to ignore me, but that was enough for me. Next time perhaps he will be a bit more quiet during nap time, as not to bother me either! lol
