The Finale of the Gardener's Cottage

Hi!!!  Hello!!!  Bonjour!!  I am so excited that I get to give something super cool away!!!  Did I say SUPER cool!!!  It is super cool!!   Everyone will want one, so make sure you help me out with the quote for my cottage.  Remember, from yesterday's post?  If you don't, I will explain again at the end of this post!!

And finally the last outside wall.  Old doors are just AWESOME!!!

Vandy installed a fan for me just in case I get too hot in the cottage.  I have to say, this is the only ceiling fan we own.  He can NOT stand them.  They dry his eyes out.  I took this picture from the perch (ie the loft).

How cool is this ladder???  My girlfriend, the owner of live.love.scrap. in Fairborn Ohio, Katie suggested this ladder that she had when I told her I was going ladder shopping for the cottage.  Don't you love how I put every one in my posts?  LOL  After a few tweaks, and figuring out how to not have this HUGE ladder taking up permanent floor space, viola'!!!  I love how it looks, up or down!!!
And finally the pale pink spot I want to put a quote on!  Inspirational for sure.  So, all you need to do is between now and Sunday, post  your favorite quote, saying, or words on my blog and the one that moves me the most and gets posted to my door wins the COOLEST gift of all.  I'll blog about that tomorrow.  I really want to say thank you all for visiting my blog and I hope you continue to be a part of this blogging experience with me!

  1. Your cottage is really awesome Allie. You did a fine job with all of the decorating. Again, all that I could come up with was "Please shut the door behind you!". I know it's not very inspirational but all I am feeling inspired to do right now is go to bed! Nighty Night!
    Love Di ♥

  2. This really is amazing! My favorite quote is "a house without books is like a body without a soul" cicero. I was trying to think of something more appropriate for your little cottage, but than I realized that's what I would use it for so...

  7. After giving it some thought, I decided the one thing I'd want to see on some surface every time I spent time in my own little cottage is simply this:

    Live and Let Live

  8. I like this one by Coco Chanel:
    "Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door."
    I like it because it was said by a woman, and because your walls really are doors!

  9. OK, I was going to go all deep and intellectual here but instead I'm going frivolous.

    “When having a smackerel of something with a friend, don't eat so much that you get stuck in the doorway trying to get out.” Winnie the Pooh

  11. Hey, came over from Jenny's to check out your absolutely adorable cottage.

    My quote is not too original but....."When one door closes, another one opens".

  12. Hi Allie...came over from Jenny's site. Lovelovelove your cottage. I have the perfect quote for your door...

    "Nothing is worth more than this day."
    -Goethe

    Makes me think of sitting on that sweet little porch on the perfect fall day, with a cup of hazelnut coffee warming my hands.

    Can I come over??

  13. ps -- I love Jenny's quote -- the pooh one. I actually think smackeral is my favorite word ever. If she wins, I won't think it has anything to do with the cousin-ness of you guys. Because I would put that quote on my door. If I had a cute little cottage that is. It wouldn't exactly work on my shed.

  16. Coming from Jenny's blog. My favorite door quote: "When one door closes, another one opens." My favorite sign to have, because I love the movie and I love the sentiment" It's a Wonderful Life." What a very unique cottage...where DID you get the idea? Joni

  17. Hey Allison!!! Love, love, love your cottage!!! It is bigger than I thought it would be. Can I move in for a mini-vacation? You must do all the cooking!! I'll bring the vino. You need to make your space a chalkboard and change the quote as you feel. I have the paint and there are too many fantastic ones to choose from. My favorite is from Winnie the Pooh.

  18. Since this is the quote I have at the top of my blog I must enter it "When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would have not a single bit of talent left and could say. "I used everything You gave me." Erma Bombeck
    I have been a follower of your cousins for quite some time and have become one of your followers now. Very inspiring blog you have going here!

  20. This is a cottage of my dreams! I love it!!! I am coming over from Jenny's and so glad that she shared about your cottage with us! I had one old door from our last duty station, that was going to be tossed since some old military warehouses were being torn down (that while my hubby was in Iraq, I singlehandedly hauled home...I loved it and had it by my front yard with morning glories and flowers growing on it...but with our transfer, I passed it on to a neighbor.)

    I love the quotes mentioned here. (especially Jenny's from sweet Winnie the Pooh! haha) hm...but I do like this verse:

    "Ask and it will be given to you;
    Seek and you will find;
    Knock and the door will be opened to you."

    I am off now to read more about your amazing cottage and how it came to be :o)

    Blessings & Aloha!
